Emily and Molly

At reading time we had to do a reading activity on the Ipad, about our book called The spider who wanted spots. We did who, where, when and what. We chose a background that looks like a spider web and we also wrote some sentences so people knew what the story was about. When we had  finished we showed Mrs Scott and she was super happy!      

Molly, Brooklyn and Bradlee

Molly's talk today was another interesting speech for Room 2 to listen too. It was about her hobby, which is drawing. She brought some examples of what she has drawn. They were a set of animal drawings which she didn't have to trace! Molly can also draw other things as well. Thank you for your speech Molly. I have noticed that you love drawing before school in the mornings. It is a great hobby to have.

Bradlee's talk was about .... 

Spiders!

He shared some facts about spiders and his dad drew a spider for him. Bradlee had all his notes ready to read and he was very organised. He used the magnets to keep his picture up on the board and he spoke clearly so the children could hear him. Great talk Bradlee. 

            

Brooklyn was very excited about his speech. He showed the audience what he makes at home with his Lego. He told us the names of some of the pieces he has and told us that you can get Batman Lego! Brooklyn also showed us how to put the pieces together! Very impressive Brooklyn. We could hear what you were saying and you looked at the audience. Well done!

Buddy Day

Room 14 and some children from Room 2 are working together to create a buddy for Buddy Day.

They have to choose a profile for the buddy which tells everyone the buddy's name and what he or she likes to do. We haven't finished them yet but they will be ready to go and spend a day at a local business soon!

Assembly part 2

Our thoughts about our assembly!

You were so good at singing on the stage, Rome! I like your poster too. It looks like you are standing in a doorway!

Karearea Reading Task

The children in Karearea reading group worked independently on the iPads to do a character study.  First they read the book "Bend, Stretch and Leap" and identified Tommy as the main character.  Then they put the information they could find about Tommy onto a Pic Collage. They found a picture of Tommy in the book and snipped around it so that he was the only one in the photo. Very clever!

Your information looks great, Molly. You found out a lot about Tommy. Maybe you could have labelled the picture of Jessica so we know who she is?

Good work boys - You found some facts about what Tommy likes! You can practise changing the size of words so that important words are the biggest.  Maybe the title could have been bigger?

Emily, I like the creative way you have placed your information about Tommy. Great work! Maybe you could add a title for your work.  

A book review by Karearea reading group

Starfish poem

We read a poem about a starfish this week.

We watched some video clips and learnt a lot of facts about starfish or Sea Stars, as they are also called.  You can also hear a story about starfish.

Giant Stories

Today the boys and girls in Karearea reading group did some of their learning on the iPad.

They took photos of the giants and wrote about them.  They thought about whether all giants were the same or different.

KC kids like learning at home!

Two of the KC kids in Room 2 shared some work that they did at home.
Jasmine drew a series of fantails and Molly wrote about friends. 
KC kids like to think and KC kids practise using language, symbols and text. (That means they do reading, writing, mathematics and talk!)  It is great to have children choosing to practise at home. Well done!
